Thomas is a leading speaker on masculinity, trans media narratives, and the importance of diverse perspectives in journalism. He has been reporting on the "masculinity crisis" and related issues since 2011, taught at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism, is the author of two books on gender, and is a regular media commentator for NPR and other outlets. He has given talks at over a dozen colleges and institutions, including the Atlantic Ideas Festival, Google, and Facebook.
